Faculty Honors / AOA Convocation 

The annual faculty honor's convocation and AOA recognition of new members will be held at noon on Thursday, March 28, 2002 in Eppley Science Hall Auditorium. Joseph P. Vacanti, M.D. a graduate from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine will be the featured speaker. 

NRMP Results (National Residency Matching Program) 

Residency matching results for the Class of 2002 were announced on Thursday, March 21, 2002. One hundred seventeen members of the class received notification of their residency locations. Forty-four members (38%) of the class will commence residencies at UNMC affiliated programs this July. 

Seventy-nine students (68%) will begin residencies in primary care fields (family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, or primary care). This is the eighth year in a row that more than 60% of our students have entered primary care programs after medical school. Residency choices by area - number of students (for students with a second year program identified)

In addition to the 44 students beginning a residency in programs associated with UNMC (including Clarkson and Lincoln Family Medicine programs), four students matched with a program at Creighton Medical School.

Senior Hooding and Commencement 

Senior students will receive their M.D. degree at commencement on Saturday, May 11, 2002. The annual hooding ceremony will be held on Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m. in the Joslyn Art Museum auditorium. Students will receive their doctoral hood, take the physicians oath, and receive special awards at this ceremony.
