Bupropion (Wellbutrin)

Bupropion is an antidepressant which is different in structure from tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), and monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

It’s NICHE is in the apathetic, lethargic depression or in nicotine dependency.   It has a stimulating effect to counteract the lethargy.  It has limited risk of lowering seizure threshold.

As in all medications using the sustained release preparation is preferred to improve compliance.
